MAP OF HANNO THE NAVIGATOR’S VOYAGE

The map below is a possible reconstruction of Hanno’s voyage. As Hanno’s log book has been transmitted to us via a Greek translation made centuries after the expedition, the names, distances, times of sailing do not always correspond. The further south Hanno navigated, the more his itinerary turned into legend rather than geography. There are several theories in the scholarship about the exact locations where Hanno stopped and how far south he was able to sail. The map below is therefore an interpretation.
